Every prescription at YourMD is reviewed by one physician. Before you trust someone with your health history, you deserve to know who they are, where they trained, what they have done, and why they built this platform.

Credentials at a Glance

The Clinical Foundation: From Residency to Nationwide Practice

During residency Dr. Surapaneni was identified as a young achiever and selected to present a poster at the Society of Hospital Medicine annual meeting in Boston — a national conference of the field's leading practitioners. That recognition came from clinical work on a question that has driven his career: how do you systematically improve the quality and accessibility of patient care at scale?

After residency he entered hospital medicine, working as a hospitalist across hospitals in Washington, Wyoming, and Oregon, eventually serving as Lead Hospitalist for Southwest Medical Associates under Optum/UnitedHealthcare — one of the largest physician group networks in the country. Leading a hospitalist team in that context means managing not just clinical care but the systems, workflows, and coordination structures that determine whether hundreds of patients get the right care efficiently or get lost in the machinery of a large health system.

Across his hospital career he has worked extensively with every major EHR platform: Epic, Cerner, Meditech, Medhost, and McKesson — under real clinical conditions as the physician responsible for the patient. That experience is why he built YourMD's yourmdRx EHR from scratch rather than licensing an existing platform. Every major commercial EHR was designed to satisfy hospital administrators, billing departments, and regulatory compliance — not the physician at the bedside or the patient trying to understand their care.

Ten Thousand Telehealth Consultations — and What That Teaches You

Before founding YourMD, Dr. Surapaneni delivered more than 10,000 telehealth consultations on a leading national platform — consistently ranked as one of the top providers by patient satisfaction and clinical quality metrics. Ten thousand consultations means ten thousand opportunities to understand what patients actually need when they reach for a telehealth platform: not just a prescription, but an explanation. Not just an approval, but a physician who noticed something in their history that the patient themselves hadn't connected. Not just speed, but the confidence that comes from knowing the person who reviewed their case has the training to catch what matters.

It also means ten thousand opportunities to see what goes wrong in telehealth — the intake that didn't ask the right question, the prescription written without the interaction check, the patient approved for a medication that was wrong for their specific situation because the platform was optimizing for throughput. YourMD was built to be the platform he always wanted to work on — one where clinical quality was the metric, not approval rate.

"I've done more than 10,000 telehealth consultations. The ones I remember most are the ones where I said no — and the patient later told me that refusal sent them to the right doctor at the right time."

Double-Digit State Licenses: What That Means for Patient Access

At the peak of his active licensure, Dr. Surapaneni held medical licenses in more than ten states. That breadth was intentional — a direct expression of a belief he has held since residency: geography should not determine who gets access to a board-certified physician. The United States has a severe and worsening shortage of primary care physicians, particularly in rural and underserved areas. A patient in rural Wyoming with Type 2 diabetes and uncontrolled hypertension deserves the same quality of internal medicine evaluation as a patient in Manhattan. Telehealth makes that possible — if the physician on the other end has the training and the licenses to serve them.

Building Technology With and For Patients

YourMD Telehealth is one part of a broader technology ecosystem built in collaboration with YourMD.Online, LLC. The consumer-facing platform at yourmd.online includes several applications built with direct patient need in mind:

Why YourMD Exists

The passion driving YourMD is making American healthcare transformative — not incrementally better. Meeting patients where they actually are. Eliminating the access barriers that cause people to go without care not because the care doesn't exist but because the system makes it too hard to reach. Using the technology available in 2026 — AI, telehealth infrastructure, direct pharmacy APIs — to deliver physician-quality care at a price and convenience that was not possible a decade ago.

YourMD is a physician-owned, AI-native, vertically integrated platform that tries to deliver what the best internal medicine physician you've ever had would deliver — accessible from your phone, transparent in its pricing, accountable in its clinical standards, and honest about both what it can do and what it can't.
