Foundayo is a once-daily oral tablet developed by Eli Lilly. Its active ingredient is orforglipron, a small-molecule GLP-1 receptor agonist. Unlike semaglutide (Wegovy, Ozempic), orforglipron is not a peptide — it is a synthetic small molecule that activates the GLP-1 receptor through a different chemical approach. This is why it requires no special absorption mechanism and therefore no food or water timing restrictions.
Foundayo received FDA approval under the Commissioner's National Priority Voucher program on April 1, 2026 — the first new molecular entity ever approved under this program and the fastest NME approval since 2002.
Clinical data (ATTAIN trial, 72 weeks, highest dose 17.2mg):
| Month 1 | 0.8mg once daily |
| Month 2 | 2.5mg once daily |
| Month 3+ | 5.5mg once daily |
| Further escalation | 9mg → 14.5mg → 17.2mg |
You can take Foundayo at any time of day, with or without food, with water, with your morning medications. This is clinically meaningful for patients with GERD, acid reflux, IBS, variable schedules, or shift work.
