No-show and late-cancellation policy
Clear, consistent expectations for scheduled YourMD phone and video appointments.
1. No-show fee: $45
A $45 no-show fee applies when a patient misses a confirmed, scheduled phone or video appointment without cancelling before its start. This fee does not apply to asynchronous consultations, appointments cancelled by the practice, or appointments the clinician misses. Exceptions may be granted by the practice. Patients will receive this policy before booking and acknowledge it before it applies.
A confirmed appointment has an agreed date, start time, and time zone communicated to the patient. Submitting an intake, paying for a visit, or waiting for an unscheduled callback alone does not constitute a confirmed, scheduled appointment. On-demand waiting rooms and chat-only consultations are not covered by this no-show fee.
For phone visits, the practice must document its attempt to call the patient's confirmed callback number at the appointment time. A clinician's failure to call, a practice cancellation, or a technical failure on our side is not a patient no-show.
2. Late cancellation: separate $25 provision
The existing $25 late-cancellation provision remains separate. This draft does not change its notice window or other eligibility terms. Those terms must be disclosed before booking and acknowledged before a late-cancellation fee applies.
Cancelling before the appointment's scheduled start is a cancellation, not a no-show. If it falls within the separately disclosed late-cancellation window, the $25 provision may apply instead. We do not apply both fees to the same appointment. A timely cancellation carries no attendance fee.
3. Same rules across booking channels
This policy applies consistently to qualifying appointments booked directly with YourMD or through Zocdoc, WebMD, or another referral channel. A referral source or its booking cost does not make an otherwise ineligible appointment subject to a fee.
Once effective and acknowledged, the $45 no-show fee replaces the full-visit no-show fee or forfeiture for a qualifying missed appointment. It is not added to a retained full consultation payment. Any prepayment must be reconciled against the applicable fee, with any excess returned to the original payment method. Charges for care actually delivered remain governed by the Refund Policy.
4. When a fee can be invoiced
Before sending an invoice, the practice will verify the confirmed appointment, its scheduled start, the attendance or cancellation record, the policy's effective date, and the patient's recorded acknowledgment of that policy version before booking. The practice will also check exclusions, exceptions, prior payments, and any invoice already issued for that appointment.
A general billing agreement, a saved card, a Stripe customer record, or acknowledgment of an older policy is not acknowledgment of this version. Publication alone does not authorize a charge. No invoice under this policy will be sent for an appointment booked before the policy became effective or before the required acknowledgment was recorded.
Any invoice will identify the appointment date, the type of attendance fee, and its amount. This policy does not itself authorize an automatic charge to a saved payment method.
5. Cancellations, exceptions, and questions
Cancel through your booking channel or patient portal, or contact the practice before the appointment starts. Keep your cancellation confirmation. If you cannot use the portal, call (702) 430-7801 or email support@yourmd.online.
The practice may grant exceptions, including for emergencies or circumstances that prevent attendance. If a fee appears incorrect, contact the practice for a review. Staff will document the decision and any waiver or correction.
Proposed patient acknowledgment
I have received and read the No-show and Late-Cancellation Policy, including the $45 no-show fee for qualifying confirmed, scheduled phone or video appointments, its exclusions, and the separate $25 late-cancellation provision. I understand that these fees apply only after the policy takes effect and my acknowledgment is recorded.
This is sample wording, not an acknowledgment form. Reading this page does not record acceptance.
